About

My love of pattern design started at age 12 when I signed up for an after-school batik class.  I was fascinated with how a design could be built up in layers and the result revealed only once the wax was ironed away.  For my birthday that year my parents bought me a second-hand deep fat fryer.  My Dad, an electronic engineer, fiddled with the electrics and turned it into my very first batik wax pot - which I still have to this day.

I went on to study Textile Design and specialised in printed textiles.  My career has taken me from fair trade Indian textiles to creative community recycling projects in East Africa.

In 2016 when I was on maternity leave, I was desperate to get back to my artistic hobbies. It felt like designing my children’s themed birthday cakes had become my only creative outlet!  While researching how to build Yoda from fondant icing, I stumbled across polymer clay on the internet.

I was excited by what I saw so bought myself a few blocks, some basic tools and started creating.  I loved how you could create a 2D pattern from a 3D form, add texture and work with colour.

Then a friend was looking for a pair of earrings to match a specific outfit, so I took up the challenge to make them.  A few more custom requests, a stall at the local Christmas markets and my little business was born.
